What a schema markup generator does
Schema markup is a block of code that tells search engines what a page is about. It names the business, the author, the price or the event date in a form a machine can read without guessing. Google and other engines use it to show richer results, such as product prices, event dates and lists of questions.
The code is written in JSON-LD, a small data format that sits in a script tag. You do not have to learn the format. Pick a type, fill in the boxes, and this schema markup generator writes the JSON-LD for you.
How to build your markup
Choose one of the eight types at the top, then fill in the form. The code on the right updates with every key you press.
- Pick the type that matches the page: Organization, Local business, Article, FAQ page, Breadcrumbs, Product, Event or Software application.
- Fill in the starred fields first. They are the ones a search engine needs.
- Read the checks under the code. Required items are marked in red, and warnings flag values that search engines will ignore.
- Press Copy the markup and paste the script tag into the head or body of your page.
- Test the live page in Google's Rich Results Test before you rely on it.
Mark up only what the page shows
The one rule that matters is that structured data must match the visible page. If the markup names an author, a price or a question that a visitor cannot see, search engines can treat it as misleading, and that is the mistake that gets penalised.
For that reason the generator adds nothing you did not type. It never invents a rating or a review, it only adds a price when you give one, and it adds a free offer to a software page only when you tick the box that says the tool is free.
What the generator cannot do
It builds one block at a time, so a page that needs an Article and a breadcrumb trail needs two blocks. Build each one and paste them both. It does not read your page, and it cannot tell whether your markup matches it. Google also changes which types earn rich results, so treat a valid block as eligible, not guaranteed.
Frequently asked questions
Is this schema markup generator free?
Yes. It is free, needs no account, and has no usage limit. Everything runs in your browser.
Is what I type sent to a server?
No. The JSON-LD is built on this page as you type. Nothing is uploaded or stored, and closing the tab clears it.
Where do I put the JSON-LD on my page?
Paste the whole script tag into the head or the body of the page it describes. Google reads either place. Use one block per type, and keep the values in step with the visible page.
Why is there no star rating option?
Ratings and reviews must come from real reviews that the page shows. A generator that invents them would put your site at risk, so this one never adds them.
Does valid markup guarantee a rich result?
No. Valid markup makes a page eligible. Search engines decide whether to show a rich result, and they change the rules from time to time.
